Competence Assessment

Details of competency assessments for RPU produced training courses

Details

Competency Assessments have been added to all RPU produced courses available on LEARN. These assessments demonstrate that you have understood the content of the course. You will need to pass the assessment before any work with radiation can commence. The questions will all be relevant to the course you have undertaken and require 70% mark for a pass.

Markers

Your Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS List - EASE Authenticated) or School Laser Supervisor (SLS List - EASE Aunthenticated) will check your mark before sigining off a Proposed Scheme of Work form or allowing you to commence with work.

Accessing the assessments

You will find a competency assessment in each RPU produced training course in Learn. Details of the training courses available by the RPU are given on the RPU course list page.

Access to online learning

STAFF All staff are required to access the health and safety training via the Learning app on People and Money (P&M).  These replace the courses which were previously provided on Learn Original.

Staff may be assigned training, and this can be accessed by logging into P&M, and selecting the "Learning" option (contained in "Me") and selecting Current Learning.  All courses which have been assigned to you will be available in this area.

If a member of staff wishes to search for health and safety training courses, they can do so by using the "browse catalog" option and selecting Health and Safety.  Users may also use the "Search" function to search for a course using the title or keywords.

STUDENTS All students are required to access the health and safety training via Learn Ultra.  Students wishing to enrol on a course in Learn Ultra should email safety.training@ed.ac.uk, providing their name, student number and the name of the course they wish to register for, and this will be done manually by the Health and Safety department.
