OverviewThe fire extinguisher training, for nominated staff, is provided for the University by Core Fire Protection.AudienceThis training is required to be completed by all staff who are nominated to use a fire extinguisher in the event of a fire.Course OutlineThis training is designed to cover the different classes of fire and the various fire extinguishers provided to extinguish them safely.Fire TriangleAction on hearing a fire alarmAction on discovering a fireCauses of Fire in commercial premises- brief overview of action taken to mitigate these causesDifferent types of extinguishers and fire classificationsUse of portable fire equipmentwhen to use/when not to useusing a fire extinguisher (electronic simulator) and a fire blanketCourse durationThe course lasts one hour and is delivered in person. Please arrive promptly for the start time.RegistrationThe course is available to book via People and Money. Please self-enrol on a suitable offering.As the Fire Safety Unit have arranged for Core Fire to hold this training on a regular basis, we would request that staff enrol on one of the available offerings, to alleviate the time and resource previously spent to organise ad-hoc training for specific areas.Offerings (dates) with venues secured are listed below. Further dates will be made available for self-enrolment once room bookings are secured for the training. Please be assured that the future dates will go ahead, in the campus area listed.The course has a minimum of 10 (and maximum of 15) attendees to run so please book with this in mind. If the minimum number is not reached, the offering will be cancelled and you should enrol on the next suitable offering.
