The Healthy Working package should be undertaken by all staff who work with display screen equipment (DSE) as this provides training in best use. Course outline The areas of training consist of; Introduction to Ergonomics Sitting comfortably Your monitor Keyboard and mouse Tablet Avoiding discomfort You can complete one section at a time and return later to continue. You must complete each section in full to save your progress. You must complete all the training sections to undertake the test. This then leads onto a self-risk assessment questionnaire with further guidance on remedial actions if required. Please remember to visit your "My Healthy Working Action Plan" after you have completed your training and risk assessment. The training will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and should be done at your normal place of work. If appropriate you can also choose to include additional questions relating to new or expectant mothers, sit-stand desks, dual monitors and smart phones in your training and risk assessment. It is a legal requirement for the University to offer this training to all staff who use display screen equipment (PC/Mac/laptop/tablet/smartphone) as part of their role. It is not a legal requirement for users to complete it but we strongly recommend that they do, to ensure they work safely and comfortably, avoiding any issues which may arise out of working at a workstation. We recommend doing this training/a new risk assessment at least every 3 years, if a user's circumstances change (move roles/workstation), and/or if a Line Manager / Cardinus Administrator requests it is done/renewed. A training record and certificate can be printed after completing the online course. If you would like to speak to your Administrator about your results, contact them directly. Multiple work stations If you have more than one workstation that you normally work at, for example, two offices on different campuses, or you work from home on a regular basis, then you should complete a risk assessment for each workstation. The system allows you to complete as many risk assessments as you wish. It would be helpful if you could add the location of your workstation in the last section of the risk assessment (any other comments section) to enable you and/or your Administrator to easily identify which risk assessment relates to which workstation. Hot desk users do not need to complete a risk assessment for each desk, but should use the knowledge from the training to adjust each workstation to make it safe and comfortable to use (as you would do, for example, when you adjust your driving position in a car for the first time). Accessing the course To log in, you will need to enter your University Log In (formerly EASE). If you have any problems accessing the system, please contact your local Cardinus Administrator (see System Contacts at the bottom of this page).
