Training available for specific hazards encountered at the University

Staff and students within the University are strongly encouraged to report all accidents and "near misses" which occur on University property or in the course of University work.

Information on chemical safety training

The course is aimed at those who work with hazardous substances and who have the responsibility for carrying out risk assessments in accordance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations.

There is a mandatory requirement that all employees who drive on University business undertake a safe driving course.

List of training courses which are mandatory to undertake if working with laboratory animals

This training course covers specific aspect of ergonomics when working in a laboratory.

University staff who are involved in handling laboratory gases should receive appropriate training.

Safe working with liquid Nitrogen training course

This course should be completed by any staff who are required to work out of hours or alone.

Staff who regularly handle loads should receive adequate instructions and training.

Those who contribute to, complete, and/or review risk assessments should be trained in how to undertake these.
